When a set of photos suggesting Darsa Fried Chicken, a popular Muslim fried chicken restaurant, seemed to show the establishment closed, the internet quickly buzzed with speculation.
The images, which showed the restaurant looking empty and featuring several notices, led many to believe the restaurant had shut down.
Rumors swirled that Darsa Fried Chicken, which had only recently opened in May, might have closed permanently. Some assumed that businesses with specific racial and religious focuses might not last long.
DFC: We’re open as usual
In response to these growing rumours, Darsa Fried Chicken has provided clarity. The restaurant’s management confirmed that they are still open and operating as usual, with hours starting from 10 AM each day.

The notices visible in the viral photos are related to the restaurant’s compliance with the Service Tax Act 2018, which requires such notices to be displayed for customer information. This requirement was misunderstood as a sign of closure.
“Last month, we issued an official memo stating that Darsa Fried Chicken is now registered under the Service Tax Act 2018. This registration notice has also been displayed at the restaurant entrance for customer reference.”
According to a restaurant representative, the photos were taken early in the morning, which is why the restaurant appears empty. In reality, the staff was busy preparing ingredients for the day’s service.
