In the video released by Anonymous Malaysia’s Twitter, the group accused the government of data breaches and selling of citizen’s personal information in the past few years. The group stated that this warning should serve as a “wake-up call for the Malaysian government”.
In the video, a man was seen wearing the Guy Fawkes mask, which is a symbol for the global Anonymous movement’s, and he was reading a text off a paper.
“Your security system is low, all data may be leak. This can cause unwanted hacker selling all information,” Anonymous Malaysia said, addressing the Malaysian government.
In addition, the group has also pointed to the 2017 telecommunications company data hack that affected 46 million mobile users with spam and cyber-scam text messages, and the cyber-attack against the Malaysian Armed Forces’ network.
Anonymous further mentioned that this incident happened because Putrajaya was not supportive enough towards their developers. In the same time, they also accused the Malaysian government developers of being too stubborn to learn from their mistake.
“We are legion, we do not forgive, we do not forget, expect us,” Anonymous Malaysia said.
Despite Anonymous being a potential threat to the country’s security, the netizens still have some funny remarks on the incident.
Some netizens asked Anonymous Malaysia to wait until the pandemic was settled first, before starting their plan.
Right bellow the Anonymous’ tweet, netizens were asking the organization nicely not to hack certain websites as they needed them.
There are also netizens that believe Anonymous would bring positive impact and help supervise the security of personal information.
“The group asked the government to upgrade their system so it would be more difficult to leak. They were not hacking for themselves. Try watching the video and the messages they were trying to send.”
At the time being, the authenticity of the video is yet to be confirmed. and there was no specific plan like the Anonymous operation in 2015 being laid out in the video. Nevertheless, we should wait and observe what will transpire next.
