A Malaysian car saleswoman has taken to social media to share how she was cruelly mocked by a customer simply because she drove a Perodua Myvi, sparking anger among netizens who accused the customer of looking down on others.
The saleswoman, who shared her experience on Threads, recounted the incident while she was handling the delivery process for a customer’s new car.
‘You’re just driving Myvi?’
According to her, the customer noticed the car she arrived in and wasted no time ridiculing her.
He laughed at me and said, ‘You’re just driving a Myvi? I thought car salespeople usually drive luxury cars.’”

She explained that although she felt deeply hurt by the remark, she had no choice but to smile and hold back her emotions to avoid jeopardizing the sales transaction.
“I just smiled and thought to myself, even if I had a luxury car, I wouldn’t drive it to work. That was the first time I ever felt so inferior.”
Reactions
Her post quickly struck a chord with fellow sales agents, many of whom shared that they too had faced similar comments from customers who judged them based on the car they drove.
“Customers often ask me what car I drive, and they assume it must be something fancy. But I proudly tell them I drive a Myvi — it’s fuel efficient, cheap to maintain, and worry-free,” one person commented.
Many also expressed outrage over the customer’s comment and offered support for the OP.
‘I only ride a motorcycle. So far, all my customers are fine with it.’

‘As a used-car sales agent, I always get this kind of question from customers: ‘What car do you drive? At the very least, it must be an H (Honda), right?’ I just answer, ‘I drive a Myvi, bro — it saves fuel, cheap to maintain, and no headaches.’

‘At my place, the Proton sales agents drive BMWs and Mercedes.’
