A Malaysian woman holidaying in Thailand was left shocked upon seeing her car being clamped and a fine being issued to her simply because she parked the vehicle in the wrong direction.
The incident was shared in a TikTok video, where it has since garnered over 2,000 likes at the time of writing.
Clamped and slapped with fine
In the clip, it showed the car’s front wheel being tied with a blue wire which was secured with a padlock to prevent the car from being driven.

The camera then panned to the window on the driver’s side, where it showed a summons stating that the OP had committed a traffic offense and had to pay a 500 baht (approx. RM61) fine.
In the caption, she wrote that she was penalised for parking her car in the wrong direction as it was parked against the flow of traffic, something which she claimed she wasn’t aware of.
The OP added that although the summon said the fine was 500 baht, she has to pay another 500 baht to have the clamp removed.

She also called out the alleged double standard being practiced by the Thai authorities, saying that motorists who didn’t wear helmets while on the road or transported too many passengers in one go weren’t punished for it.
The OP then reminded Malaysians to always be aware of Thailand’s parking rules so that they will not suffer a similar fate.
