A woman who was on her way home after attending a wedding in Kuala Terengganu tragically lost her life after the SUV she was travelling in was involved in an accident along the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2).
The incident took place at around 5.15pm yesterday at Kilometer 341.5 of LPT2, near the Paka Rest and Service Area (R&R).
Was travelling home with family
According to Kosmo!, Acting Dungun district Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Jumaidy Bah Chong Weh said the victim was travelling with four family members back to their home in Kuantan, Pahang, after attending a wedding in Kuala Terengganu.
The family was travelling in a Proton X70 SUV when the vehicle was believed to have lost control upon arriving at the scene.
The SUV then skidded before crashing into the highway divider.

Victim later died in hospital
The impact caused fragments from the divider to enter the vehicle, seriously injuring the victim.
She was rushed to Hospital Dungun for treatment, but was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit several hours after the accident.
Driver may have dozed off
Jumaidy Bah said preliminary investigations did not rule out the possibility that the accident may have been caused by the SUV driver briefly dozing off behind the wheel.
The case remains under investigation.
