Despite numerous warnings and punishment being meted out by the authorities against those pump RON95 petrol into their foreign-registered cars, the issue sadly still persists.
A woman became the subject of online scorn and disdain after she was filmed filling up her car which had a Singapore-registered number plate with RON95 petrol.
Woman caught pumping RON95 into SG-registered car at JB
In a 9-second TikTok video posted by a netizen named Shah yesterday (Jan 23), it showed him filming a woman who was pumping petrol into her red Kia Stonic.
However, what infuriated him wasn’t her act of refueling her car, but it was the fact that she brazenly pumped RON95 petrol into the vehicle which bore a Singapore-registered number plate.

Under Malaysian law, owners of foreign cars who are caught pumping RON95 petrol can face a fine of up to RM1 million or a jail sentence of not more than three years, or both.
As for petrol station owners who fail to enforce the rule, they face a fine of not more than RM2 million.
When Shah moved in closer to capture a clearer look of the woman’s face, she seemed stunned when she saw the camera, perhaps not expecting to be caught in the act.

According to the in-text caption, the incident reportedly took place at a Shell petrol station located in Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru.
Netizens outraged
The clip has since garnered over 700,000 views at the time of writing, as well as angry comments from netizens over the woman’s illegal act.
‘Wah…very first-world country-like,‘ one commented sarcastically.

Another protested, ‘RON95 is subsidised petrol. How can non-Malaysians fill up with it?’

Another netizen praised Shah for exposing the woman and catching her in the act.
