Universities are no strangers to distractions—latecomers, noisy snacks, even the occasional power napper.
But at UiTM Perlis, one particular distraction has taken the internet by storm: a chonky, moody cat who sauntered into a lecture like he owned the place.
Captured in a now-viral TikTok video posted by @syiqinsh, the furry intruder walked into the classroom unapologetically late, parked himself on a desk, and stared dramatically out of the window like he was auditioning for an indie film.
The students? Smiling, petting, and utterly charmed. The lecturer? Probably wondering if this cat was about to outshine the syllabus.
“Simba,” “Loti Kukus,” or “Professor Cat”?
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Syiqin, the English lecturer who filmed the scene, spilled the tea about the cat everyone’s calling Simba—but she has her own nickname.
“”I saw in the comment section that someone mentioned the cat’s name is Simba, but I call him Loti Kukus (Steamed Bun) because his colour reminds me of one!” she shared.
We’re not saying the cat is food-motivated, but with a nickname like that, can you blame him?
Turns out, Simba—or Loti Kukus—is a campus regular.
This happened during one of my classes when he decided to join us.
A Reputation to Match His Mood
The cat isn’t just moody—he’s got stories. Syiqin revealed one of her students once caught him “vandalising” their motorcycle. “He peed on it!” she joked.
Although he may look disheveled at times, Syiqin assured fans that Loti Kukus is well taken care of.
“In that first video, he looked a bit dirty, but he’s not always like that. The UiTM staff and students take good care of him. Someone even bathes him and makes sure he’s well-fed. That’s why I say he has so many ‘owners,’” she said warmly.
