A bus carrying several tourists narrowly avoided crashing into an apartment complex last night in Cheras.
The incident occurred at a U-turn on a slope when the bus reportedly lost control due to brake failure. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
However, the bus did hit several parked cars along the roadside.
Passengers were returning from Penang
Witnesses mentioned that most of the passengers were middle-aged and elderly individuals who were returning from a trip to Penang.
The accident took place around 10mp near Maxim Residences in Cheras.
According to Sin Chew Daily, a witness, 37-year-old coffee shop owner, he was on his way home from work when he saw a crowd gathered at the scene and decided to check it out, only to discover it was a bus accident.
“A female passenger told me that everyone on the bus was middle-aged or elderly, and they were returning from a trip to Penang. The bus lost control while navigating the slope’s U-turn,” Liao recounted.
He added that the bus driver made desperate attempts to control the bus and brake but failed.
The bus collided with several cars and eventually stopped after hitting the sidewalk, using the obstacles to halt its momentum.
The witness noted that the bus came perilously close to the apartment complex, shattering its large windows.
Fortunately, all passengers on the bus were unharmed and there were no injuries.
