If you’ve ever worked at the service line, you’d probably have had your share of unreasonable and rude customers who throw a tantrum when things don’t go their way.
A woman in Singapore recently earned the unsavory ‘Karen’ title after she was filmed throwing a tray with soft-boiled eggs at a Toast Box staff as it wasn’t cracked open for her.
Demanded eggs to be cracked open for her
In the 2-minute video posted on District Singapore on Friday (Mar 31), it first began with the woman recording the scene with her mobile phone while conversing with the staff in Mandarin.
When the staff gave her two eggs on a dish, the woman demanded that she cracked it for her instead.
In response, the staff placed a teaspoon on the dish, presumably gesturing to the woman that she wasn’t going to comply.
Throws tray at staff
This clearly angered the woman, who then tossed the tray with the eggs on it towards the staff.
When the staff told the woman that there were many bystanders who saw her outburst, the latter didn’t seem bothered by it and loudly demanded for the eggs to be cracked for her.
Although the staff threatened to call the police, she eventually gave in and served the cracked eggs to the woman, who poked it with the spoon while asking whether it was cooked.
A man in striped t-shirt who stood nearby the woman had a look of second-hand embarrassment on his face as he witnessed the public meltdown.
While it’s not stated which Toast Box outlet was the location of the altercation, some netizens pointed out that it was most likely the Chinatown Point outlet.

Netizens outraged by ‘Karen’ behavior
The woman’s actions didn’t win her any favours on social media as netizens were swift to condemn her rudeness towards the staff and said that she was probably too lazy to crack the egg.
One netizen delivered an absolute savage remark in the comment section: “I don’t think her husband would even touch her eggs.” #burn
