[VIDEO] Touching TikTok clip of son giving offer letter instead of duit raya to parents goes viral

Every Raya, young adults who have finally ventured into the working world would give duit raya to their parents as a token of gratitude for their care since their childhood.

However, this young man decided to get creative by surprising his parents not with a packet of duit raya, but with an offer letter!

A TikTok video documenting this heartfelt exchange was posted by @ezhrjmn on Tuesday (May 3), where it quickly racked up more than 85.5k likes and 741k views.

In the video, the young man named Edz was seen kneeling in front of his parents as he handed over a white envelope, which hinted that it wasn’t your regular duit raya packaging.

Upon seeing her son’s tearful expression, the mother became concerned and asked what was wrong as she began tearing the envelope open.

In the caption, it was revealed that Edz has been unemployed for eight months but never told anyone the struggles he faced in finding a job.

While his parents have never pressured him into landing a lucrative job, Edz was determined to prove to them that everyone is capable of getting his/her dream job.

As his parents began to read out aloud the contents of the offer letter titled ‘Placement for Petronas’, it immediately dawned on them that their son would be working for the country’s most prestigious oil and gas company.

Overjoyed by the news, Edz’s parents gave him a warm, tight hug — a sign that they were very proud of his achievement.

The video then ends on a happy note with Edz’s mother joking that he would finally be able to buy a car of his own now.
