While there’s no denying that delivery riders have proven to be a huge source of help and convenience in sending food orders, they’re still expected to maintain a certain level of hygiene in doing so.
A man in Singapore took to social media to criticise a delivery rider who simply couldn’t be bothered to observe basic hygiene rules by placing his order on the ground instead of handing it to him directly.
SG man slams delivery rider for putting food on the floor
In a post shared to the Facebook group ‘Complaint Singapore’ yesterday (Sept 11), the man shared his unpleasant experience he had with his delivery order.

Accompanying the post was a photo taken by the OP, where it showed his order being placed on the ground inside an orange plastic bag just next to several pairs of shoes.
Clearly, this didn’t sit well with him, given the fact over how unhygienic it was to put freshly cooked food next to dirty shoes.
“To the rider…if you think that you’re tired working as a rider, don’t be a rider. I guess before you (became) a rider, I’ve already done it before, but not putting the food on the floor (where are your manners?)
I’m human, not (an) animal. If you can’t make it just quit,” he wrote in exasperation in the caption.
Mixed reactions by netizens
The post has since sparked a debate among netizens in the comment section, with some siding with the OP and others defending the rider.
A handful of them slammed the rider for being too lazy to place the food at a proper place and resorted to putting it on the floor.

On the other hand, a netizen questioned whether the OP had jumped into conclusions too quickly as the rider could have rung the doorbell before deciding to put the food on the floor.
However, he was rebuffed by another netizen, who chided him for missing the bigger picture.

Meanwhile, another sarcastically commented that it was the rider who was the ‘animal’ in the matter, leading him to commit such unhygienic practices.
