If you’re one who doesn’t own a car, taking public transportation or Grab would be an optimal choice. But what are the odds of having the driver sing for you during the ride?
A female passenger in Singapore had a pleasant surprise when her Grab driver decided to hold an impromptu karaoke session by singing an iconic Cantonese tune on the guitar.

The heartwarming incident was recorded on film by a netizen named @poodsot, who uploaded the clip to her TikTok account.
In the 22-second clip, the white-haired driver is seen strumming away on his guitar while singing the iconic Cantonese tune ‘Shanghai Beach’ (上海滩), a song which was made famous by the 90’s film ‘Shanghai Grand’ starring Andy Lau.
According to the onscreen caption, @poodsot said she and the Grab driver were waiting at a red light when the latter “suddenly pulled out a guitar out from nowhere” and began playing away.
His impromptu performance also left her touched, where she said it “really made (her) day” and called the Grab driver a “GOAT” (Greatest of all time).
She also added in the comment section that the Grab driver told her he often practices so that he won’t forget how to play the guitar as he was getting older and even showed her photos of his grandchildren. Awww.
‘5 star performance’
The clip has since gone viral and garnered over 190,000 views at the time of writing, with netizens praising the Grab driver for his excellent service and guitar-playing skills.
On a more bittersweet note, a netizen thanked @poodsot for sharing the clip as her late grandma used to sing ‘Shanghai Beach’ to her and she thought she’d never hear it again.
