Viral Clip Shows Secondary School Students Kicking, Punching Classmate In Sarawak, 4 Arrested By Police

Police have arrested four Form 1 and Form 2 students from a school in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak after a clip showed them ganging up and assaulting a schoolmate.

In a 45-second clip that has gone viral on social media, it showed the victim being kicked and punched by a group of students who were clad in their school’s t-shirt.

The aggressors took turns in beating the boy, who tried his best to fend them off by hitting them back. Another group of students were seen watching the fight from the sidelines.

Peals of laughter could also be heard in the background as the fight continued, and the clip is believed to have been filmed by one of the students present.

4 suspects arrested

According to Harian Metro, Kota Samarahan district police chief Deputy Superintendent Brodie Brangka said four boys were arrested after the victim lodged a report at the Kota Samarahan police station at 5:08 pm on Monday (June 19).

“All the suspects were taken to the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further investigation,” he said in a statement today.

Brodie added that upon examining the video, it was revealed that all the suspects and the victim were students at the same secondary school. The school administration has also been informed about the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both if convicted.
