Before one goes on a trip overseas, bringing their passport along is the most important document to have on hand.
For one woman, her passport proved to be her plan’s undoing after her young child decided to turn it into his personal scrapbook.
Left drawings on passport
In a viral Threads post, the woman wrote that she was on the verge of tears upon seeing the state of her passport before boarding a flight on Saturday (June 6).
A photo attached in the post showed that her passport had a drawing of what appeared to be a bird drawn on one page, while the adjacent page had several lines drawn over it with a blue ballpoint pen.

“My heart wants to cry. My flight is tonight, and while I was packing, the little one was busy scribbling all over my passport,” she lamented.
Passport declared damaged
Left with no recourse, the OP headed to the Immigration Department in Putrajaya and was told that her passport was deemed as damaged.
This meant that she couldn’t board her flight which was scheduled to take off that night.
To make matters worse, she had to wait till Monday to have her new passport done as there were no officers on duty on the weekend.

As such, the OP was forced to reschedule her flight to Monday, which cost her an additional RM620.
Despite the hassle, the OP said that she had made peace with her situation and wasn’t angry with her three-year-old child.
Reactions
Although the OP had already put the matter behind her, there were a handful of netizens who called her out for being careless with her passport.

Some chose to inject some humour, with one jokingly suggesting that the OP frame the damaged passport and ask for compensation from her child when he is older.

PSA: Always ensure your passport is kept in a safe place and far away from the reach of young children!
