In a shocking turn of events, six school students found themselves in the midst of an alarming incident, as they were almost kidnapped.
A man who attempted to steal a car with six students inside was swiftly apprehended by the police in Sabah yesterday (Oct 31).
The suspect actually attempted to steal the car
Reported by Hmetro, a suspect was apprehended in front of a convenience store in Kampung Pinousuk, Kundasang, after attempting to steal a silver Proton Persona car while six students were inside the vehicle.
According to the report, Deputy Superintendent Simiun Lomudin, the Chief of Ranau District Police, stated that the authorities had received a report about a man attempting to steal a car, noting that there were kids in the vehicle.
Then, the members of the police patrol unit (MPV) at the Kundasang Police Station, with the assistance of the public, successfully arrested the suspect at the scene that happened in the evening.
“After the suspect was arrested, the police also received information about the video recording of the police apprehending the suspect, which had gone viral on social media.” Simiun said in a statement.

Police seek public cooperation
“The police are currently conducting an investigation to ensure that legal actions are taken,” he said.
As the investigation into the incident is ongoing, Simiun encouraged individuals with information about this case to step forward and provide their insights to the Criminal Investigation Division located at the Ranau District Police Headquarters (IPD).
This case is now being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code and Section 365 of the Penal Code.
