Tried to flee
In a statement by Kedah JPJ director Stien Van Lutam, he said enforcement officers intercepted the Rohingya man who was waiting at a traffic light junction in Tokai.
When he spotted the officers, the man tried to escape but was captured. He later told officers that he was on his way to the market during questioning.

Checks later found that the Rohingya man did not possess a valid driver’s licence and the motorcycle was subsequently seized and sent to the JPJ Vehicle Storage Depot in Alor Setar for further action.
The case is now being investigated under Section 26(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, where the Rohingya man faces a fine of up to RM1,000, imprisonment for up to 3 months, or both if it was his first offence.
If it’s not, he faces a fine of up to RM2,000, imprisonment for up to 6 months, or both.
Stien added that JPJ Kedah will continue to ramp up enforcement operations to ensure compliance with road laws and safeguard the safety of all road users.
