A video showing a four-storey flat-like building allegedly occupied by the Rohingya community in Sungai Tekali, Hulu Langat, has recently gone viral online, sparking concern among Malaysians.

The issue gained attention after a video of the building was shared on social media, where the structure was seen standing in a rather secluded area.
Allegedly built without approval
According to reports, the building is believed to have been built without proper approval and is said to be located in Kampung Kenangan, Hulu Langat.

The matter raised questions among netizens, especially after it was alleged that the building had access to basic utilities such as water and electricity.
Some also questioned how such a structure could exist for so long without more obvious enforcement action being taken earlier.
Landowner allegedly allowed the settlement
Dusun Tua assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz reportedly said the issue had been raised at the Hulu Langat District Action Meeting since last year.
He explained that the relevant agencies had already carried out several enforcement operations.
However, he said the problem continued as there were allegedly parties who allowed their land to be used for settlement purposes and for structures to be built without official approval.
He also stressed that action should not only be focused on the occupants, but also on the landowners or parties who allowed such activities to take place.
Around 400 individuals believed to be staying there
It is understood that around 400 individuals from the Rohingya community are believed to be living in the area.
The viral video also showed the building in an old and worn-down condition, further raising safety concerns among the public.
Johan said he would bring the matter up again in the next District Action Meeting to ensure more comprehensive action can be taken against all parties involved, according to the law.
Premises reportedly raided before
Meanwhile, Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof reportedly said the premises had been raided before in an integrated operation in February last year.
During the raid, 45 foreigners were detained, including 35 men, three women and four children.
A local man, who claimed to be the son of the house owner, was also reportedly issued with immigration-related documents during the operation.
Police also reportedly said the premises is now believed to be occupied by two families, namely the property owner and local tenants.
As the issue continues to gain attention online, authorities are expected to look into the matter further, especially concerning the legality of the structure, land use, and the safety of those living there.
