Vacation is a joy, from the planning stages to the excitement of heading to the airport. However, it also demands meticulous planning to avoid any hiccups during travel.
Unfortunately, a Malaysian couple who highly anticipated their dream honeymoon to Turkey shattered when entry was denied due to rain-soaked passports, breaking not only their hearts but also resulting in a loss of about RM16,000.
M’sian couple’s dream honeymoon shatters
Posting a video on his TikTok account, @fikryyazman, Fikry Azman shared how he and his wife has fallen into the unfortunate scenario.
On December 17, recounting the incident, he shared that he was supposed to depart for Turkey. Unfortunately, the trip didn’t materialize as his passport got wet and was rejected.
“Our intention was to go to Turkey for our honeymoon and celebrate our birthdays together.” he acknowledged in the video, taking responsibility for the mishap.
“It’s partly my fault too for the wet passport, not being cautious about something like this,” Fikry said.
Adding to the heartbreak, this newlywed couple faced a staggering loss of RM16,000 due to this unlucky incident.
However, Fikry accepted this unexpected turn of events with an open heart, stating that while we may have our plans, God also has His own plans.
He also apologized to his wife, saying, “Forgive me, my love, we couldn’t go there.”
In the video, while showing their rain-soaked passport, Fikry expressed, “This is where it gets tough. Realizing it unfolded like this, tears just well up. But it’s okay, it wasn’t meant to be.”
Real question – How could his passport get wet?
Responding to everyone curious about how his passport got wet, Fikry explained, “I commute to work in Singapore. On Saturday, when I reached the Singapore customs, it was pouring rain heavily.”
“If Allah says it’s not our destiny, then it’s not.” – he wrote this caption accepting the situation.
One of the netizens suggested that he should request a refund, “You can refund it. I just refunded an instant ticket. Just Google and fill out the form or call.” He replied saying that he went under a group.
Another netizen commented, “If it were me, I would buy the ticket in the next few days after settling the passport, since I’ve already paid for the hotel, etc. Inform the hotel and flight about the reschedule.”
Fikry responded, “I can’t reschedule the flight because we went under a group. If we still want to go, we have to buy a new flight ticket, which costs around 4k-5k.”
As we all nod in sympathy for this unlucky duo, the story stands as a quirky reminder that life is unpredictable, and sometimes, even our best-laid vacation plans can take an unexpected detour.
