In the comment section, most netizens agreed with Goh and said that the RM11 price tag was exorbitant.

Staff tells a different story

However, an employee from the stall came forth with a completely different account of the incident.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the employee said that Goh’s helper had ordered an à la carte vegetarian meal, which would naturally be more expensive as the items were priced separately.

He added that if the helper had opted for one of the vegetarian set meals which came with two vegetable dishes, curry gravy, and rice, the price would only be S$4 (RM13).

However, the helper insisted on the order and said that she wasn’t able to finish the set meal all by herself.

“We also informed her that we would be charging SGD1.50 each for rice and the beansprouts and an additional SGD0.50 for curry gravy,” explained the employee.

As such, he was surprised to see Goh turning up at the stall in a huff and accost him over the price.

“Her employer came to the stall to question us about our charges. After explaining our pricing to him, he left. But, we didn’t expect him to put up a complaint on Facebook afterwards.”
