It’s been a while since we’ve heard about food being sold for ridiculously high prices, and here’s another one to add to the list.
Recently, a Malaysian was left stunned when a plate of colek he ordered ended up costing him a hefty sum of RM71.
Colek is a popular delicacy from Kelantan, serving not only as a dipping sauce but also as a tasty snack. It is something similar to rojak and comes in different varieties like fruit and meaty colek.
One plate of ‘Colek’ costs RM71
Sharing through his X account, @suns8t, he revealed that he was shocked by the pricing of a plate of colek he recently dined in for.

According to the OP, the colek plate he ordered included one squid, three sausages, and just six pieces of ‘lekor‘. The hefty price also covers the two drinks that accompany the dish.
He also commented, mentioning that he was aware of the price listing, but he was taken aback after seeing the final price.

However, the OP didn’t disclose the restaurant or the location of the place where he had the colek.
Netizens were shocked too
“Way too expensive.”

“Is this RM71?!!!!! Looks like it’s only RM17.”

Some netizens shared that there are colek available for less than RM30.
“Come to Nilai. Like this, only RM20; one big squid, 2 large prawns.”

“At Pondok Makan Jalan Gombak, a mixed colek set with chicken and lung costs only RM12, which is enough for three people. Grilled Chicken Nasi Kerabu is RM7. Satisfying and delicious.”

“Come to Kelantan, in the Cherang area, you can get colek for RM30.”

A netizen had RM104 worth of colek
Surpassing the OP’s price, another user, X, commented under the thread that they actually had a plate of colek for RM104 at Seri Kembangan.
