Imagine starting your morning commute only to realise there is a rat running around in the same train carriage as you.
That was what commuters on the MRT Kajang Line encountered on Thursday morning (Aug 13), after a rat was spotted scurrying across the floor of a train.
Rat spotted during morning commute
The incident was captured by Xiaohongshu (XHS) user 嘿 走起, who told WeirdKaya that the footage was taken at around 7.40am today.
The OP added that the incident happened on the MRT Kajang Line, with the train travelling in the Kajang bound direction.
The OP said they boarded at Pasar Seni station and got off at Merdeka station.
In the video seen by WeirdKaya, the rat could be seen quickly scurrying across the carriage floor and underneath the seats.
Passengers nearby were understandably cautious, with some lifting their feet and keeping an eye on where the rat was heading.
The rat continued making its way around the carriage as commuters watched from their seats. One at point, it even leaped towards a woman’s feet, causing her to scream.
Rapid KL says rat has left the train
Responding to the incident, Rapid KL said the video was shared with them by another user during the morning’s operations.
It confirmed that the rat had since left the train.
Rapid KL added that its operations team had taken note of the incident and would continue ensuring the cleanliness, comfort and safety of passengers.
The public transport operator also urged passengers to help keep trains clean by refraining from eating and drinking onboard, as food could attract pests looking for something to eat.
It also called for passengers’ cooperation in maintaining cleanliness inside its trains.
