A man was left with a disgusting and potentially fatal taste in his mouth after he discovered a severed rat’s head inside his nasi kukus meal.
‘Nasi kukus, tambah tikus’
According to a video posted by @AsyrafRosli_ on Twitter, it showed what resembled a rat’s head inside the package containing the nasi kukus.
He initially thought that it was chicken meat slathered in gravy, but realised otherwise when he saw what appeared to be whiskers.
According to one of the comments, the incident allegedly took place at a restaurant located at Royal Plaza Putatan in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

At the time of writing, the clip has racked up 1 million views and more than 6,000 retweets.

Even Asyraf couldn’t help chiming into the comment section as well, where he joked that Remy, the rat from Disney’s Ratatouille, must have fallen into the nasi kukus itself.
Some also called for the eatery to not only be shut down for 14 days but to be stripped of its license as well.
Eatery owner responds
Following the online outrage, the restaurant owner has since issued a statement on Facebook regarding the incident.
According to the statement, officials from the Sabah Health Department arrived on the same day to conduct an inspection of the premises.
“Their inspection did not find any traces of rats or signs of uncleanliness and the restaurant was given a 89% score in terms of cleanliness.
“Nevertheless, we were advised to close the restaurant for the day in order to carry out cleaning works,” she wrote.
