In a 29-second clip shared widely on Facebook, it showed the Proton Wira driver weaving in and out through traffic.
On both occasions when he suddenly cut into the lane of another driver, he nearly missed hitting their cars by mere centimetres.
While the video does not state the location, it’s believed to have taken place at Kilometer 20, Kluang-Batu Pahat Road near Parit Raja in Johor.
Arrested for dangerous driving
The driver’s reckless antics soon came to an end after he was arrested by police at a house in Taman Pura Kencana Sri Gading at 1 am today, reported Harian Metro.
Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) and the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters (IPD) moved to track down the driver after they were made aware of the incident.
“Apart from arresting the suspect, we also seized the car believed to have appeared in the clip,” he said.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving, which carries a maximum jail sentence of five years and a fine not more than RM15,000.
Ismail also advised the public to always drive safely on the road and not endanger the lives of other motorists.
