A Proton Wira is making waves—literally—after a video of the car braving floodwaters in Kampung Belanga, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, went viral.
Social media users have jokingly declared the Proton Wira as Malaysia’s new automotive king, with some dubbing it the “nation’s war chariot.”
Water almost submerge hood
The video, uploaded by TikTok user “peyy_dbs2,” shows the car navigating a bridge submerged by overflowing waters from the Sungai Basik river.
As the Proton Wira enters the bridge, floodwaters completely engulf the car’s hood, creating a dramatic scene.
Despite being nearly half-submerged, the vehicle continues moving steadily and miraculously emerges from the flooded area unscathed.
The 12-second clip highlights the severity of the flooding, as the bridge serves as a crucial route for Kampung Belanga residents to travel to Kuala Krai town.
Many locals rely on this path for daily commutes, underscoring the risk taken by the driver in crossing the flood-stricken area.
Netizens’ reaction
Social media users were quick to share their admiration and humor, with comments pouring in about the Proton Wira’s resilience.
“Where is this? I want to find a Wira like this.”
“Is it true that both sides are rivers? I’ve passed this place before when it wasn’t flooded, and it was already scary.”
“This is how it is; if it made it through, it’s a hero. If it didn’t, it would’ve been scrap in seven days.”
