12 containers destroyed in Port Klang blaze

The containers were used to store lubricants, spare parts, baby walkers and more.

KLANG – A total of 12 containers were completely destroyed after a fire broke out at Port Klang yesterday (Apr 5).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said that a distress call was lodged at 5:37pm and 34 firefighters from 10 separate Fire and Rescue Departments were immediately rushed to the scene.

Among them included the West Port, Andalas, Kota Anggerik, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Port Klang, Puchong, Subang, Serdang, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) rescue teams.

“The containers were used to store various items such as musical instruments, baby walkers, lubricants, spare parts, and threads.

“Efforts to move the remaining containers spared from the blaze to a safer place is currently underway and no casualties have been reported so far,” he said in a statement.
