Every now and then, we would get ourselves into sticky or avoidable situations due to our carelessness. But, there still exists people who are willing to help when that ever happens.
A woman recently shared how she mistakenly pumped diesel instead of petrol into her car and how an alert petrol station worker saved her from incurring further damages.
Petrol station worker saves M’sian woman from hefty costs
Taking to Facebook to share the incident, the woman named YuYu Suet Yi wrote that she had gone to a petrol station on Sunday (Apr 7) and saw that several cars were queuing up to pump petrol.
Upon seeing an empty slot at the diesel pump booth, she parked her Honda HRV into the slot and picked up one of the pump nozzles to fill her car up.
Unbeknownst to her, she had picked up the diesel pump nozzle and unwittingly pumped RM30 worth of diesel into her car.
“I noticed that the pump nozzle was larger than usual and I couldn’t seem to fit it right into the fuel filler. But I honestly thought it wasn’t a big deal,” she admitted.
Thankfully, a petrol station worker saw what had happened and stopped YuYu from starting the car engine as it would result in irreparable damages.
The staff even went the extra mile by helping YuYu send her car for engine cleaning at a nearby workshop, where she paid only RM122 in total.
Gave petrol station staff duit Raya
Wanting to thank the petrol station staff for his assistance, YuYu said she returned to the petrol station the next day and gave him some ‘duit Raya’ as a token of appreciation.
She also jokingly called herself “stupid” for not being able to differentiate the different types of pump nozzles.
‘Luckily you met him!’
In the comment section, netizens were amused by YuYu’s story and expressed how lucky she was to have met the petrol station worker, which could have been a financial disaster for her.
Meanwhile, a netizen joked that to this day, she still couldn’t remember which side the fuel filler was on her car.
