M’sian Parents Probed By Police For Letting Kids Play On Windowsill Of High-Rise Condo In KL

They were reportedly at home at the time.

A shocking video showing two kids playing on the windowsill of a high-rise condo in Taman Setapak, Kuala Lumpur has landed a couple in hot water with the police.

The video was originally posted by a netizen named Reff Lia on Tuesday (Oct 25), where it showed the children sitting and dancing precariously on the edge of the windowsill.

Parents were at home

According to a statement by Wangsa Maju district police chief Supt Ashari Abu Salah, police caught wind of the video on the same day of the incident.

A team from the the Kuala Lumpur Sexual, Women, and Child Investigations Division (D11) were then immediately sent to check on the children at the scene.

He added that preliminary investigations found that the parents were at home at the time of the incident and had no idea what their children were up to.

Ashari urged parents to not leave their children unsupervised as it was considered a form of child neglect.

“We urge those with information on the case to contact Wangsa Maju police headquarters at +603-92899222, the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at +603-21159999, or their nearest police station, to aid in investigations,” he said.

The case is currently investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, where it carries a maximum fine of RM20,000, a jail term of up to 10 years, or both if convicted.
