KANGAR – Paralympic gold medalist Abdul Latif Romly is officially off the market after announcing his engagement to his girlfriend.
This auspicious announcement was made on his Instagram account last Sunday (Oct 24) along with a short and sweet caption.
Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God). One step closer. I love you!”
Who’s the lucky girl?
Siti Aminah, the sister of Abdul Latif, confirmed the engagement to Utusan Malaysia when contacted.
She added that her future sister-in-law Nabila Farhana currently works as a teacher.
“My brother and his girlfriend first met each other during their high school days at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Syed Alwi,” she said.
Netizens wasted no time in congratulating the couple on their engagement, including national diving icon Pandelela Rinong and former Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq.
The athlete also received a congratulatory message from Greek Paralympian Athanasios Prodromou.
For those who are not aware, the Greek athlete was praised for displaying exemplary sportsmanship when he rushed to help Abdul Latif who got injured during his fifth jump.
Earlier this year, Abdul Latif achieved national fame by bagging the gold medal in the men’s long jump T20 (intellectual impairment) event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Here’s to wishing the couple a long and happy marriage!
