With the current hot and dry season, Malaysians are looking for ways to beat the heat such as blasting the aircond or guzzling down cold drinks.
Now, it seems that even animals can’t handle the sweltering heat too, including this orangutan which decided to ‘raid’ a fridge at a Sabah café just to cool off.
Orangutan casually treats itself to a cold drink at Sabah café
In a 29-second video posted on May 10 by a Sabah Forest Department conservator named Arthur Chung, it showed the orangutan opening a fridge and rummaging through the canned drinks as though it was a regular customer.
After a few seconds of ‘fridge shopping’, the orangutan eventually settled for a carton of milk and drank heartily.
The primate even took a moment to ensure that there wasn’t any milk left in the carton before walking off with a packet of food in its hand.
According to Chung, the incident took place at the Keruing Café in Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) Sepilok, which is next to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.
“(He) helped himself selectively with whatever found in the fridge and left without paying!” he joked.
‘He definitely feels at home’
In the comment section, netizens were tickled to see how brazen the orangutan was in taking drinks from the fridge and said the primate had made itself at home.
‘That’s his place of origin. Do you think he’ll ever pay (for the drink)?’
‘Just like in his own home.’
In the same vein, a netizen jokingly asked whether the person who filmed the orangutan will hand the primate the bill.
