OKU teen breaks down after KFC staff refused to let her jot down her order on a piece of paper

It costs nothing to be kind.

KOTA BAHRU – A girl suffering from hearing and speech impairment was reduced to tears after her request to write her order on a piece of paper was rejected by the staff at a KFC drive-thru.

In a TikTok video uploaded yesterday (Oct 28), she recounted the entire incident using sign language.

She claimed that she was told to make an order on the counter instead of writing it down.

Although she pleaded with the staff to let her do so due to her physical disabilities, the staff apologetically insisted that she head over to the counter instead.

I asked them why can’t I write my order on a piece of paper. I was able to do that in the past. Why not now?

“In the end, I left the place hungry as I felt it was a waste of time. I’m very disappointed,” she said while trying to regain her composure.

Towards the end of the video, the girl said that she hopes KFC would improve its services for disabled people like her.

Later on, KFC reached out to the teen and expressed its regret over the incident. It also promised to take the necessary action to avoid a reoccurrence.

However, netizens were unimpressed with the reply, saying that it sounded like a generic answer from a bot.

Let’s hope this incident will cause Malaysians to look out for their fellow OKU peeps and help them in whatever way possible!
