National Sports Council ex-chief Zolkples Embong passes away at the age of 62

KUALA LUMPUR – Former director-general of the National Sports Council (MSN) Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong was found dead at his home this morning. He was 62.

His passing was confirmed by Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak.

According to Bernama, Zolkples’ body was found in the kitchen by police and fire and rescue department officers.

His nephew and personal assistant had contacted the police to ask for help in opening the door of the deceased after failing to contact him.”

Several NSC staff said they had been unable to contact him since Friday (Oct 1) when he didn’t turn up for Friday prayers at Vista MSN, Bukit Jalil.

The cause of Zolkples’ death is still being investigated.

National Sports Council (MSN) later posted a status on their official Twitter page mourning over his passing.

After news of Zolkples’ demise broke, badminton icon Datuk Lee Chong Wei gave his condolences to the family in a Facebook post.

His legacy in [the] Malaysia sports arena will forever be remembered.
