The High Court has dismissed former prime minister’s Najib Razak’s claim that criminal charges against him in the 1MDB trial were defective.
Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah ruled that the allegations remain intact, stating that the defense’s objections had no merit, as reported by Harian Metro.
Today, the KL High Court officially ruled that Najib must enter his defense on 25 charges, including four charges of power abuse and 21 charges of money laundering, reported CNA.
These charges are tied to RM2.3 billion allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB funds.
During today’s court session which was marked by heightened security, Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, was seen entering the courtroom about 20 minutes after the judgment began.
Earlier, Najib’s daughter Yana Najib was spotted outside the court complex, interacting with supporters who had gathered to show solidarity while chanting “Bebas Bossku” and “Hidup Bossku”.

Najib is currently serving a 12-year sentence, which was later reduced to 6 years, after he was found guilty of misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International funds.
