Good news for football fans because the FIFA World Cup 2026 is officially coming to Malaysian screens.
The government has announced that RTM and Unifi TV will serve as the tournament’s official broadcasters in Malaysia, with matches available through TV and online streaming platforms nationwide.
The announcement was made as part of the MADANI Government’s commitment to make the tournament available to all Malaysians in an inclusive and legal way.
RTM & Unifi TV named official broadcasters
According to the statement, RTM and Unifi TV have been appointed as the official broadcasters for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Malaysia.
To make viewing more accessible, matches will be available across multiple platforms, including Free-to-Air broadcasts via MYTV, as well as OTT streaming platforms such as RTMKlik and Unifi TV.
This means fans can tune in through television, mobile devices, or online streaming, depending on their preference.
All 104 matches to be shown live on Unifi TV
For hardcore football fans who do not want to miss a single match, Unifi TV will broadcast all 104 matches live throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile, RTM will air most of the matches either live or through delayed telecasts, giving viewers more options to follow the tournament.
The World Cup coverage will also include a grandstand programme produced from Angkasapuri Kota Media, mainly presented in Bahasa Melayu with selected segments in English.
Updates and tournament highlights are also expected to be shared through Selamat Pagi Malaysia.
Public viewing events to be held
Besides watching from home, the government also revealed that public viewing events will be organised at selected locations nationwide to further hype up the World Cup atmosphere.
Several major co-sponsors have also reportedly been identified and are currently being finalised, with more announcements expected soon.
RTMKlik app can already be downloaded
For those who do not yet have access to RTMKlik, the app is available for download via Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Looks like Malaysians can officially start preparing those late-night mamak sessions for the World Cup already.
