A Malaysian woman has sparked debate online after revealing that her fiancé asked her to sell her own car in order to cut down on monthly expenses after marriage.
According to mStar, the woman shared her situation in a post on Threads, where she explained that the request came with additional conditions that left her feeling conflicted.
Asked to give up her own car
In her post, the woman said that both she and her fiancé currently own their own vehicles.
I have a second-hand Perodua Bezza, while he owns a second-hand Perodua Myvi,” she wrote.
However, her fiancé reportedly suggested that one of them should “let go” of their car due to his financial commitments.

“He said one of us has to give up a car because he has many other expenses and can’t afford the monthly instalments anymore,” she shared.
According to the woman, her fiancé proposed that she sell her Bezza, while he would transfer ownership of his Myvi to her name.
But there was a catch.
“He asked me to give up my car and promised to change the Myvi ownership to my name, but I would have to pay half of the monthly instalments,” she explained, seeking advice from netizens on what she should do.
Netizens disagree
The post quickly gained traction, with many users weighing in on the situation.
Most advised her against selling her own car, pointing out that both parties had their own financial responsibilities before marriage.
Others also raised concerns about long-term implications, especially in the event of a divorce.
