A 20-year-old Malaysian man has gone viral for proudly purchasing a used car as his first vehicle, despite facing criticism from some netizens.
According to mStar, Alief Rezariel Reduan said he has no regrets about his decision and chooses to ignore negative remarks about buying a second-hand car.
Earned through his own hard work
For him, the achievement means more because it was earned through his own hard work.
I don’t care what people say. This is money I saved myself, and I know the effort I put in. This is an achievement for me,” he said.

Alief shared that he has been financially independent since his school days and prefers not to rely too much on his parents. While studying, he worked to support himself and even covered all his expenses during Form Six.
My parents are not poor, but I don’t want to burden them. I know they’ve worked hard, so I don’t have the heart to add to their responsibilities,” he said.
He added that he has been using an old phone for six years, saying that he doesn’t like to spend money unnecessarily.

Moving forward in his personal journey
He added that he decided to purchase the car after going through a breakup, seeing it as a step forward in his personal journey.
Alief’s story gained attention on Threads after he shared his excitement about buying a used Proton Gen-2 at a young age, sparking mixed reactions online.
