However, one Malaysian woman recently shared a heartwarming experience after visiting a car dealership in nothing more than a simple pair of slippers, only to be treated with kindness and professionalism instead of being looked down upon.
Expected to be ignored because of her outfit
According to Sinchew Daily, netizen Suhaila shared that she had visited a showroom of a well-known car brand while casually dressed in blue-and-white slippers.
She admitted that she initially expected to receive poor treatment due to her appearance and had mentally prepared herself to be ignored by the staff.
However, things turned out very differently from what she expected.
Sales advisor treated her professionally
According to Suhaila, a sales advisor approached her and her sister warmly and attended to them professionally without judging them based on their outfit.
I went to the showroom wearing slippers, but the salesperson still served me very well,” she wrote.
Touched by the friendly treatment, both sisters eventually decided to place an order for a car on the spot.
She revealed that her sister successfully received her car a week later, while she is still waiting for hers due to the waiting list.
Heartfelt blessing during car handover
What made the experience even more memorable for Suhaila was what happened during the vehicle handover session.
She shared that the sales advisor sincerely told her:
May this car bring many benefits to you and your family.”
The heartfelt remark left a deep impression on her and made the entire experience even more meaningful.
Urges salespeople not to judge customers by appearance
Following the incident, Suhaila also took the opportunity to share some advice with a netizen who had just started working as a sales advisor for Proton.
She reminded salespeople to treat every customer with respect regardless of how they look or dress.
“If customers come to the showroom, please treat them well even if they are wearing slippers,” she wrote.
She also advised sales staff to remain patient when customers ask basic questions about driving or vehicle functions.
“Don’t get annoyed if customers ask how to drive the car or where the buttons are. Since you’re in sales, you should explain things patiently and provide comfortable service without being pushy.”
Meanwhile, some netizens jokingly commented that customers who arrive in slippers are often the ones who end up paying cash for the car.
