M’sian Woman Treats Old Man To Free Meal, Tells Him He Could Add On Whatever Dish He Wanted

A woman, upon noticing an elderly man in his 60s dining alone with just a meal of plain rice with chicken liver, approached the cashier without hesitation to pay for his meal.

This simple act of kindness, which took place in a Penang, Malaysia restaurant known for serving ‘Penang style’ meals on wooden carriers, captured the hearts of many and quickly went viral on social media.

“Take whatever you want”

The elderly man, initially having ordered only plain rice with chicken liver due to financial constraints, was touched by the woman’s gesture.

Encouraged by her kindness, he was advised to add more side dishes to his meal.

“It’s alright, just take whatever you want to eat; I’ll cover it.” The woman reassured him.

His face, previously marked by solitude, brightened with a broad smile, visibly moved by the compassion shown to him.

The elderly man end up adding a fish and a cup of Teh ice to his meal.

“Someone cared about him.”

The story, shared on the restaurant’s Facebook page, Nasi Kandar Sulaiman, emphasized the woman’s altruistic spirit and aimed to remind everyone, especially those who are capable, of the importance of lending a helping hand to those in need, whenever and wherever possible.

“The elderly man looked very happy, not because he ordered a fish, but because he realized that someone cared about him.” The post wrote.

“If not us, then who else will care for these elderly needy people?”
