A group of nursing students were left touched after a stranger unexpectedly offered to pay for their food at a convenience store in Kuala Lumpur.
Sharing the encounter on Threads, user @not4aestheticpurpose said they had initially entered the convenience store to buy two packets of bread.
Hesitated to buy a promotional drink
The student then noticed a yoghurt drink that was on promotion but hesitated to take it after spending a large amount on groceries the previous day.
As students, of course we have to save money,” the OP wrote.
While they were heading towards the counter, a woman who was waiting in line stopped them and asked whether they were nursing students, as they were still wearing their uniforms.
They initially assumed that the woman was simply curious.
However, she then surprised them by saying, “I want to pay for your food.”
Woman insisted on buying them more
The students initially refused the offer as they felt shy, but the woman continued insisting.
After noticing that they had only taken a few items, she even encouraged them to choose some drinks.
The students eventually picked cheaper drinks as they still felt embarrassed about accepting the stranger’s generosity.
The OP said the timing of the encounter made it even more meaningful, as they had just been worrying about money before the woman approached them.
Wanted to share her good fortune
According to the student, the woman explained that she had received good results from a physical examination and wanted to share her good fortune with others.
She also bought herself ice cream, joking that she could now enjoy something sweet because her results were good.
The student said a simple thank you did not feel sufficient and wished for the woman to remain healthy throughout her life.
The Threads post had received more than 23,000 views and over 800 likes at the time of writing.
Several commenters also shared similar experiences of strangers helping them financially while they were students, with many wishing that the woman would continue to be blessed for her kindness.
