Aside from sending food orders to hungry customers, another key feature of the e-hailing app Grab is that it also allows customers to send items to their family or friends who live far away from them.
However, the app is also prone to technical glitches, which sometimes result in humourous situations, just like how this woman found out.
Shocked by Grab rider coming from Sungai Petani to Bukit Bintang
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the amusing encounter, the woman named Fyna wrote that she wanted to deliver an item from Bukit Bintang to Bangsar, leading her to book a Grab rider to do so.
To her shock, the app told her that the rider would only arrive at her location at 3am. When she checked the ride details, she was flabbergasted to see that a rider all the way from Sungai Petani, Kedah was assigned to carry out the delivery.
Needless to say, Fyna was absolutely floored by the ride details, where she jokingly asked whether she was a “joke” to the Grab app.
Fyna went on to say that the address she keyed into the app was correct, so most likely there was a glitch which caused Grab to assign her a rider located in another state more than 400km away.
The fare was RM17 in total and it’s not enough to go to the Lost World of Tambun,” she joked.
She eventually cancelled the order after she didn’t receive a reply from the rider after dropping him a message. However, it’s not known whether it was successful or not.
‘We need an update!’
The tweet has since been viewed more than 1 million times at the time of writing and garnered tons of comments from netizens who could hardly believe what they had just read.
One joked that Fyna could’ve asked the rider to buy strawberries from Cameron Highlands along the way.
Another wrote that this was Grab’s way of fulfilling the cravings of customers who were yearning for food from their hometown.
On the other hand, some believed that the rider could have gotten confused with another place near Sungai Petani that actually shares the same name with Bukit Bintang.
Meanwhile, netizens were also clarmouring for Fyna to post an update about what ultimately happened to the order and whether the rider had actually travelled from Kedah to KL.
