We all dream of having a good paying job once we graduate from university. However, there are some circumstances outside of our control that may prevent that from coming true.
A woman recently took to social media to share her frustration over the wage stagnation she was facing in her home state despite being highly educated and working almost every single day.
Work all day, but still get low pay
In a Threads post, the OP shared what she felt was a “traumatic” experience as a full-time employee in her home state of Kelantan.
According to her, her basic pay is only a meagre RM1,700 despite the fact that she clocks in at least 48 hours of work weekly and holds a degree.

“Employers here are stupid as well. Things in Kelantan aren’t cheap either as they’re almost the same as KL.
“People in Kelantan should accept it when others say the state is underdeveloped because the employability and salaries are just heartbreaking,” she ranted.
What netizens say
In the comments, there were differing opinions over the OP’s situation as some were in agreement while others were less inclined.
One agreed with the OP, saying that she herself used to work in Kelantan and had to contend with low pay. She also claimed that most companies in the state often fail to manage their finances properly.

On the other hand, another netizen told the OP to be grateful for her RM1,700 salary, adding that many others earned way less than that.

Meanwhile, a netizen called for a drastic measure in curbing the problem by banning Malaysians from coming to KL or Selangor to work, saying that the move will incentivize less developed states in setting up their own industries and economic activities.
