However, recently a post by a Malaysian woman sparked online debate among netizens as she questioned the absence of Deepavali decorations in malls while they’re already gearing up for Christmas sales.

M’sian woman questioned the mall’s double standard

In the post within the Malaysia Education Info (and Homeschooling too) Facebook group, a woman raised a question asking why there are no Deepavali decorations in the mall but already have items on sale for Christmas.

“Went for grocery shopping at a local mall nearby my house. Saw Christmas items on sale. But nothing for Deepavali, not even any deco. Something is not right!” she wrote in the post.

Besides her perceptive question, the woman also emphasized that our society has become overly commercialized.
