With Raya just around the corner, many are pondering where to find crisp new notes for ‘angpow.’ However, one woman has ingeniously shared a solution.
Recently, a Malaysian woman was spotted ironing RM20 notes to give them a fresh look, and surprisingly, they did appear as if they had just come out of the machine.

M’sian makes money look new by ironing
Sharing her secret on her TikTok account, @dkremy reveals how to make banknotes look fresh and crisp.
In the short clip, the woman was seen slightly dipping the RM20 note into water before proceeding with the next process.

Following that, she placed the iron box on top of the money while showing the other notes that had already been ironed earlier.

In her caption, she explained that since it’s hard to get fresh and new banknotes, she opted to iron the money for a crisp and smooth finish look.
This video has since gone viral, gaining over 3.2 million views, with more than two thousand comments from users.
Netizen were amused
“Wow, good idea!”

On the other hand, another netizen shared that when they tried the same thing once, it didn’t turn out well.
“My brother once did it and the money got burnt, man!

However, a TikTok user who claims to work at a bank cautioned against ironing money, stating that it could potentially damage the embedded chip
“I work at a bank. We can’t iron money. The CDM might not accept it later. There’s a chip in the money; it could get damaged.”
