37yo M’sian Woman Hit By Car Trying To Avoid Cat, Left Severely Injured

She's currently warded in the ICU.
Accidents can happen anytime and anywhere, and sometimes it’s caused by the most unexpected reasons possible.

A woman in Melaka was knocked off her feet after a car rammed straight into her as the driver was attempting to avoid a cat crossing the road, reported The Star.

According to Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit, he said the incident took place at the entrance of a house at Taman Sutera Wangi in Batu Berendam which belonged to the victim, 37-year-old Yeo May Fong, at 11.41pm on Wednesday (Nov 6).

He added that based on the police report lodged by the car driver, she claimed to have tried avoid hitting a cat that was crossing the road before losing control of the vehicle and colliding into Yeo and another parked car.

As a result of the accident, Yeo sustained serious injuries to her head and hip and was rushed to the Melaka Hospital.

Patit revealed that the car driver lived in the same housing estate as Yeo while another police report was made by the owner of the car that got damaged in the accident.

He added the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving “without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for another person using the road”.

As for Yeo, she is said to have undergone a major surgery and now remains at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
