A 35-year-old woman in Kelantan who had just given birth and undergoing her confinement period was found dead with a knife lodged into her neck.
NST reported that the tragedy took place inside a house in Kampung Beris Panchor yesterday (Apr 12) at around 6pm.
Found dead with knife inside neck
The English daily reported that the 35-year-old victim had allegedly locked herself inside the room.
Her younger brother soon became concerned for her safety and took a peep into the room and found her drenched in blood, causing him to break down the door.
The victim’s mother, Zuraizah Mat, told NST that a vegetable knife was found lodged into the middle of her neck.
She also said that prior to her death, the victim came over to her place and handed her the 36-day old infant and requested to speak to her husband who was in Kedah via the phone.
She asked me to look after the baby before she went into the bedroom. After some time, I felt worried about her and I asked me youngest son to use the ladder to peek into his sister’s room to check if she was okay.
“When my son saw his sister lying in a pool of blood, we tried several times to break the room door before we were able to get in,” she recounted.
Complained of abdominal pain
Zuraizah added that the victim often complained of abdominal pain after she gave birth to her fourth child.
“That morning (of the incident), she went to Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) and the doctor had advised her to take some medication. Upon returning home, I noticed that she looked stressed out.
“I also suspect that she took the knife from a store outside the house before locking herself in the bedroom,” she said.
Bachok District Police Chief Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin, who confirmed the incident, said the case has been classified as sudden death.
