Police recovered the body of a 36-year-old woman from a river near a Kuala Lumpur mall on Thursday, hours after it was first spotted upstream along Jalan Ipoh.
Authorities said the initial report was received at 11.37am after a member of the public noticed a body floating near Rivercity Condominium.
River current carried body downstream
However, by the time police arrived at the scene around noon, the river current had already carried the body further downstream.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said the remains were later recovered by personnel from the Chow Kit police station in the river near a mall along Jalan Putra.
Police identified the deceased as an unemployed Malay woman from Chow Kit who had been reported missing since Wednesday.
No prior health issues found
Initial investigations found no prior health issues.

However, police noted that the woman had been struggling with depression following her boyfriend’s imprisonment on drug-related charges.
The body was sent to the forensic department at Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem examination.
The case has been classified as sudden death, and investigations are ongoing.
