A 69-year-old woman who lived alone at her home in Sungai Petani, Kedah, was found dead after a strong odour emitted from the unit today.
The discovery was made by the community security team, who were called to the scene after the foul stench was detected.
Didn’t leave the house for 2 days
According to Sin Chew Daily, the deceased, Yang Xueling (transliteration), had lived at the house located in Taman Ria Jaya for about 20 to 30 years.
Neighbours said she was a woman who usually kept things to herself and followed a regular routine, where she would leave the house every two days.
However, when they noticed that Yang didn’t leave her home for two consecutive days, they sensed something was amiss.
It was later confirmed when a bad odour began wafting out from the house, prompting Yang’s neighbours to call the community security team for help.
Had head injury
The security team’s deputy chairman told Sin Chew Daily that they contacted the police and fire department when they confirmed the foul odour.
Upon their arrival, the police and firefighters broke into Yang’s home and found her lying on the floor in one of the rooms.
Her head was also found to be bleeding and authorities believed she had been dead for some time.
It was also reported that Yang lives alone and her family is currently in Singapore. Her body was later taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for an autopsy.
