A 51-year-old male teacher was found dead after falling from the rooftop of a hotel in Kuala Muda, Kedah—an incident that has left many in shock.
According to initial reports, the man had arrived at the hotel yesterday morning (Apr 13) and was later seen at the rooftop before the fall occurred.

Carved final message on the wall
According to Kwong Wah Yit Poh, initial investigations revealed that prior to the incident, the victim had used a stone to carve a birthday message for one of his kids on a wall at the rooftop area.
The message was said to express deep emotion and a sense of reluctance, and is believed to have been written shortly before the fall.
The victim was living in Bandar Bukit Selambau, Kedah and was a teacher at SMK Merbok.
He leaves behind his wife, who is also an educator at a vocational college, and his four children.

His wife reportedly rushed to the scene after receiving news of the incident and was overcome with grief, requiring support from colleagues who were present.
Reportedly had mental health issues
It is understood that the victim had been dealing with mental health issues and had sought treatment from a psychiatrist on April 6.
He was also said to have expressed suicidal thoughts to colleagues a day before the incident.
Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said police received a report about a body found in the back alley of a hotel earlier that morning.

Preliminary investigations found that the victim was not a guest at the hotel and had arrived at around 8am, where he asked hotel staff about the operating hours of the rooftop swimming pool, which is open to the public for an entry fee of RM15.
He was later seen at the rooftop at around 9am before the fall.
Police have classified the case as a sudden death and the body has since been sent to the mortuary for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
