Unlike pets who are under the loving care of their owners, stray animals often have to rely on the kindness of strangers in staving off their hunger or endure another long day with an empty stomach.
One Malay woman willingly chose to break societal and religious taboos by feeding a stray dog which was starving along the streets in Sentul, a move which has garnered much praise online.
M’sian woman feeds hungry stray dog in Sentul
In a 39-second Tiktok video posted by a woman named Yaya, it showed a brown stray dog wandering around a parking lot at Sentul Point.
According to the caption, Yaya was in the middle of having her meal when she met the dog, who was observing her from a distance.
Sensing that the dog was silently pleading for some food, Yaya took pity on it and tossed a piece of bread towards it, but the animal got scared and backed away.
A moment later, the dog finally plucked up courage and cautiously approached the food before eating it.
Speaking to Weirdkaya, Yaya said she was actually scared of the dog but couldn’t help but to feed it as she saw the dog looking at her needily.
She added that she hopes more people will show compassion towards stray animals.
I hope Malaysians would feed the strays more. If we don’t, who else would feed the stray cats and dogs?
“I also hope that by sharing this small act of kindness, it will encourage others to be more open towards stray cats and dogs and to not shun them as they didn’t ask to be in the situation they’re in,” she said.

The clip has since garnered more than 240,000 views so far and the comment section was flooded with praise for the Yaya by netizens.
