A woman has landed herself in hot water after she was caught eating and drinking during the fasting month, which is strictly forbidden.
This comes after a viral clip circulated online showed her eating and drinking while conducting a livestream on TikTok.
Arrested for disrespecting Islam
In a statement by Negeri Sembilan Islamic religious affairs department (JHEAINS) director Asri Abdullah, he said the clip was taken during a livestream last Sunday (Feb 22) at around 6.45pm.
“She interacted with her followers on the social media platform and openly ate and drank while the livestream was ongoing,” he said as quoted by Harian Metro.

The woman was later detained at around 12pm yesterday (Feb 24) at her home in Kuala Pilah and was released at 10pm the same day after giving her statement.
The owner behind the TikTok account was also nabbed for further investigation, where they will face charges under Section 50 of the Negeri Sembilan Syariah Criminal Enactment 1992 for allegedly insulting or disparaging Islam.
Public reminder
Asri also urged the public, especially the Muslim community, to be aware of religious sensitivities and respect the holy month of Ramadan.

“JHEAINS remains committed to ensuring that all matters related to the Muslim community in Negeri Sembilan are managed in an orderly manner, with wisdom, and in accordance with Islamic law and the laws in force.”
