When we Malaysians get hungry late at night, our top choice is always the Ramly burger from the roadside stalls, mainly because of its affordability.
But not in the tourist case. Recently, a tourist share a video showing how a Malaysian burger seller charging him a staggering RM10 for a regular burger.
“Did I really get scammed?”
Sharing the experience on his Facebook account, Travelling Solo Logs, the tourist posted a long video capturing moments of his casual vlogging.
“Did I really get scammed at this Ramly Burger stand?” the tourist wrote in the post.
The vlog is all about a comparison between the burger he purchased from a roadside Ramly burger stall and the one from a fast-food chain.
He requested a simple beef burger without cheese or egg. To everyone’s surprise, the seller billed him RM10 for the basic burger, whereas the standard cost would typically range from RM3 to RM5.
At first, the tourist appeared unsure, but when asked again about the price, the seller insisted on RM10, and he then proceeded to make the payment.
This video instantly garnered over 623k views as of the time of writing and hundreds of comments from netizen noting he was scammed.
Netizens were criticizing the burger seller
Some netizens mentioned that he got scammed by the burger seller, noting that the normal price for a regular burger should be around RM3 to RM5.
“I think you got cheated, a regular Ramly burger should be around RM4 or RM5. That RM10 is too much.”
“Normally, it costs between RM3.50 to RM4.50. I’ve never paid RM10 for a Ramly! You definitely got scammed.”
“Yeah, bro, they scammed you. It’s a shame for us as Malaysians. The actual price is only RM4 per burger for the original. They overpriced you. Stay safe, brother.”
On the other hand, another netizen mentioned that the higher price could be due to the stall’s location.
“The price will change according to the location of the stall. Maybe their rent is so high, that’s why it’s a little bit pricier than other stalls.”
